Shut Up & Write BASEL a free, in person, writing group for anyone, writing anything, in any language, in Basel.
The Wednesdays Writers are a cafe-hopping group that meets every Wednesday at 9:30-11 am.
The main group meets every Saturday at 11 am-12:30 pm.
Our Simple, Proven Formula:
we begin with a few minutes of introductions,
then we shut up & write for one hour of focused writing,
and we end with a brief, optional check-in to share our progress.
Some of the projects people in Basel have worked on:
handwritten letters to penpals, books, PhD thesis, blog posts, card deck, diary, research, articles, grants, journaling, doodling, job applications, zines, poems…
Shut Up & Write is not my own idea.
It is part of an international writing community with events all over the world. I do not take any credit for it; i am simply one of the Basel organizers. I organize the Wednesday Writers group and am usually at the Saturday group as well.
About our Group:
Our Basel group is a fairly chill group of writers from all over the world and all over Switzerland. We have had people come from Zurich, Bern, and St Gallen for our Saturday groups. We tend to be neurodiverse, emotionally intelligent, and focused on doing our own thing. It is a no pressure zone and I’ve noticed we tend to attract people who are interested in doing things, not just talking about doing them. I love the self-responsibility the format provides while being in a group of people doing cool things.
